Hi, I'm Kara

I have a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Expressive Art Therapies. I use trauma-informed, evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).

I work with clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences around a variety of therapy concerns including: trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship satisfaction, and identity exploration. I have specialized training and years of clinical experience supporting pregnant and postpartum parents, Women, and LGBTQ+ individuals.

Outside of the therapy room, I am a parent to young children and several pets. I can be found dancing for the fun of it, enjoying the outdoors, or playing games with family and friends.

My Approach

I have an engaged, active style. I value the role that movement, humor, and creativity can play in healing. In sessions I strive to balance validation, curiosity, and sometimes challenge, to explore and expand perspective. Ultimately, I find that therapy can't stop at insight. How often do we already know what we want to do but still find it hard to live differently? Experience is a powerful teacher. Part of my role is helping clients start to experience parts of their lives in new, healing ways both in and outside of sessions.

I can help you turn down self-criticism, overthinking, and auto-pilot patterns so that you can tune in to what matters to you most. Together we can clarify your values, sense of meaning and purpose, and map out a path to enjoying your uniquely meaningful life.
